What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[CB] Catholic Bible Fireside School and Church Edition

To outline the major differences between Rome Catholicism, protestants, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Catholics and protestants agree that the Gospels are God-breath [2 Timothy 3:16] [Catholic Bible page 322 New Testament) infallible inerrant Word of God. Does Rome follow the Gospels closely in their teachings and preaching, or is there another Gospel being presented? (Galatians 1:8-9] [CB] Catholic Bible page 277 New Testament]

What is the Gospel according to the Holy Bible?

The gospel contains the righteousness of God making salvation available through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the gospel, which means the "good news.” The apostle Paul was a strong advocate for the gospel in Romans 10:9-10 [ CB] Catholic Bible page 229) we read, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth, he confesses resulting in salvation. V 11, For the Scripture, says, whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed." Paul speaks out, "For I am not ash of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that that belie 1,16] [CB]Catholic Bible page 218 New Testament]

What does the Bible mean when it says you must believe?

Believing is more than a passive response to protestant or Roman Catholic traditions and sacraments. Church attendance, sacraments, and traditions have never saved a person. Romans 12:1-2 [CB] Catholic Bible page 231 New Testament] says it best" ....You must present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship, and do not be conformed to this world, but be "transformed by the renewing of your mind...." When your mind is changed by the scriptures, you become more Christlike. (CB) Catholic Bible page 231 New Testament]

Let's look at Jesus' words, "you must be born-again." What does this mean? "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3-16) (Catholic Bible pages 148-149 New Testament.)

What does being born-again mean?

When we are born-again, we have accepted God's offer of forgiveness for our sins. By confessing our sins and inviting Jesus Christ into our lives by way of the Holy Spirit that fills us and changes us. We have then responded to the free gift offered by God of eternal life. We are now spiritually born-again. Jesus has stated very clearly that this must occur, or we will not see the Kingdom of God.

Jesus was very direct with Nicodemus; you must be born-again! John 3:1-27 CB page 148 New Testament

You and I cannot be the same person once we have placed our trust in Jesus Christ [born-again] The Holy Spirit is now in residence to guide us and comfort us as we grow in Christ through the study of His Scriptures. [2 Timothy 2:15] [CB]Catholic Bible page 322 New Testament) We are sealed with the indwelling Holy Spirit Ephesians 1:13-14 (CB) page 286 New Testament]

How will the Holy Spirit guide you and me?

Here is an example. A sheepherder will walk around his herd speaking and singing. The sheep become accustomed to his voice, relax, and feel secure. (We relax and feel secure by studying, becoming familiar with God's promises to us.] If you and I put our trust in the size of a mustard seed in Jesus (Matt 17:20] Catholic Bible page 43 New Testament] and we will become accustomed to knowing when God is speaking to us by the reading and study of His Word.

Here is an example from Scripture that is rampant in the Catholic and protestant Church.

Judas, who betrayed Christ, was with Christ for three years. He sat under His teachings, saw the miracles, and witnessed people believing in Christ. But he did not believe in Christ Jesus answered them, did I myself not choose you the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil. Now he meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him." [ John 13:2; 6:70-71] Catholic Bible page 164 New Testament] Judas observed only, counted as one of the twelve but never put his faith in Jesus.

Does Rome believe in the inerrancy of scripture?

Yes, as expressed in the Second Vatican Council, and I quote, "The books of Scripture must be acknowledged as teaching solidly, faithfully and without error that truth which God wanted to be put into sacred writings for the sake of salvation." [2 Timothy 3:16] Catholic Bible page 322 New Testament

Catholic Contradictions

CCC means “Catechism of the Catholic Church”

CB means "Holy Bible fireside School and Church Edition"

My goal, to outline the major differences between Rome Catholicism, protestants, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Catholics and protestants agree that the Gospels are "God-breathed" [2 Timothy 3:16] Catholic Bible page 322 New Testament] infallible inerrant Word of God. Does Rome follow the Gospels closely in their teachings and preaching, or is there another Gospel being presented? (Galatians 1:8-9] Catholic Bible page 277 New Testament]

Jesus said on the cross "It is finished.” What did Jesus Mean?

(CB) Hebrews 10:14 [Catholic Bible page341] "For by one offering He has made us perfect those who are being consecrated..." Hebrew 7;27 [Catholic Bible page 337 New Testament] "He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those sins of the people; He did that once for all when He offered Himself."

CCC denies that "it is finished." As stated in [John 19;30] CB page 172 New Testament The unbloody sacrifice of Christ (CCC 1367] is offered over and over in the Eucharist for the forgiveness of the sins of the living and the dead and to receive temporal (worldly] benefits from God (CCC 1414] which says, as a sacrifice, the Eucharist is also offered in "reparation" [Making a wrong right] for the sins of the living and the dead and to obtain spiritual or temporal benefits for God."

(CB) The Bible says a person will be judged based on his life. Hebrews 9:27 [CB] Page 340 New Testament "And in as much as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes the judgment. “[Not purgatory] Roman Catholicism does encourage prayers for those in Purgatory, (which is a separate topic.]

Jesus expiates [atones for our sins] our sins

CB [ Romans 3:25] Catholic Bible page 325] “Through His Blood, God made Him (Jesus) the means of expiation [atonement for all who believe."

There are many more contradictions. These demonstrate that there is another Gospel being preached and taught (Galatians 1:8-9]
